Analyze your campaigns with auto-tagger
Setting up a framework of tags for your data makes it easy to analyze your social campaigns. The Advanced Analytics auto-tagger adds tags to each of your posts based on preconfigured rules.
Plans: Customers with Advanced Analytics. Want more Hootsuite features? Upgrade your plan.
Tagging rules can be set up for links, text, website data, and hashtags in your social posts. Add tags to classify posts by campaign, content type, objective, tone, or other (for example, sponsored).
- Links - Subdomains, subpages, and UTM parameters in URLs within posts can be identified for assigning tags. For example, any URL beginning with https://blog.hootsuite.com/ can be classified with the tag “blog”. We detect tags even if you shorten your links.
- Text - Tags are assigned based on keywords in posts. For example, if a post contains the word “running” or “workout”, it can be tagged with “fitness.”
- Website data - Advanced Analytics follows links in your posts to their destination website and adds tags based on the site's metadata. For example, keywords, open graph tags, or page descriptions in the source code can be identified for tagging.
- Hashtags - Tags are assigned based hashtags or mentions in posts. For example, #Halloween2017 can be tagged with “holiday.”
Set up auto-tagger
Please contact your customer account manager to help you set up your auto-tagger framework and enable this feature for you.
Once you're set up with auto-tagger, add exceptions for Hootsuite IP addresses to ensure that we always capture the full destination URL and metadata from the links you share on social.
Import tags from Hootsuite
If you use Hootsuite, any outbound tags you apply to your posts in Hootsuite, including scheduled posts, are automatically imported into Advanced Analytics as content tags. See Tag posts and messages to learn more.
These tags work in tandem with the auto-tagger. Duplicates are automatically detected and removed.
Note: The auto-tagger doesn't detect and import campaign names selected in Hootsuite, only campaign tags.
If you think your account is missing tags, either through the auto-tagger, or imported Hootsuite tags, please contact your customer account manager. Include the post link in the social network (for example, the link to the post in Facebook), the tags you were expecting to see, and a screenshot of the post in Hootsuite with the tags.
