Reply to a Facebook Page comment with a private message

  1. Select More options next to the comment, and then select Reply with message.
  2. Enter your reply, and then select Send.

The conversation will appear in your Inbox.

Requirements and limitations:

  • The comment must be from a Facebook profile.
  • Hootsuite needs permission on the Page to Manage and access Page conversations in Messenger. If this was turned off, follow the instructions to proactively reconnect the Page. You will automatically be prompted to authorize any missing permissions.
  • Because of an API limitation, private replies are allowed within seven days of the creation date of the original comment or visitor post (subject to change).

Create a comment stream

If a post in a Facebook Page stream is getting a lot of comments, you can create a new steam just for those comments to manage engagement for that post separately.

  • Select More options below the post, and then select Create comment stream.

Hide a Facebook Page comment

You can hide or unhide visitor comments and replies on your Page. Hidden comments and replies are still visible on the Page to the commenter and their friends. They also remain visible to you in your Page Activity stream.

  • Select More options next to the comment or reply, and then select Hide.

Hidden comments appear faded in the stream.
