Manage notifications

Stay on top of urgent issues, social activity, and approvals with notifications. Hootsuite notifications show you what needs attention first, so you can focus on what matters to you.

This article describes the new Social OS experience. If you haven't switched yet, select the Classic tab for instructions. Learn more about the Social OS experience.

Select the bell icon in the left navigation to open a preview panel of your notifications. An indicator lets you know when there are new actions for you to review. From there, select View all to open the full notification manager.

By default, Hootsuite displays notifications for the last 30 days, sorted by two priority levels:

Urgent: issues that need immediate action, like a disconnected social account or a failed post.
Needs attention: everything else, including mentions, approval requests, and other updates.

From the notification panel or manager, you can:

See a count of your unread notifications on the bell (up to 99+).
Select a notification to open a detailed view with more information.
Select Mark all as read to clear your notifications. You can also reverse this action by selecting Undo right away.

The Summary panel in the full notification manager displays a breakdown of your notifications by priority and product. You can select a segment of the chart to filter it accordingly.

To narrow your list by priority, product, or date range, select Filters, select your options, and then select Apply.

Note: The Notification Manager is available on the web version of Hootsuite only. They aren't yet available in the Hootsuite mobile app.

Customize your notification settings

Go to Notifications, and then select Settings.
Select your options.

Select the bell icon in the left navigation to open a preview panel of your notifications. Hootsuite updates notifications every 30 seconds. An indicator lets you know when there are new actions for you to review.

Here are some things you should know:

You can open these for more information.
Hootsuite displays up to 200 notifications from the past 7 days. When you reach 200, we remove the old ones to make room for the new ones.
You can engage with others here just like you can in Inbox.
You can open an approval here to take action on it in your content calendar. Learn how to approve posts from team members.
Access to approval features is based on your plan type. You can check your plan's features and upgrade your plan here.

Customize the notifications you receive so you can focus on what matters to you.

Go to Notifications, and then select Settings.
