Manage content campaigns

Use content campaigns to make campaign tracking easy, accurate, and consistent. With campaigns, you can organize and report on your team’s marketing posts.

If you're looking for instructions on how to manage all your paid and organic Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn campaigns in Hootsuite, see Overview of Hootsuite Social Advertising.

Content campaigns span a specified timeframe and have defined attributes. Attributes include link tracking parameters, link shorteners, and tags. When team members create a post, they can associate the post with a campaign in one click. This applies the campaign's settings to the post, saving time during post creation. Campaigns group your content, so you can filter by and analyze performance of a set of posts.

Create a content campaign

Hootsuite organization Super Admins and Admins can create content campaigns for their organization. All organization members can then see and contribute to campaigns.

Content campaigns must run for a minimum of 24 hours. You can create campaigns for a specific duration (up to a maximum of two years), or ongoing campaigns (no end date).

Follow the instructions for your plan. If you don't know what plan you have, go to Hootsuite and select Account - you'll find it below your name.

1. Go to Account, and then select Social accounts and teams.
2. Select Campaigns in the navigation pane.
3. Select Create a campaign.
4. Enter a Campaign Name and a Summary. These tell team members how to use each campaign when they are creating posts.
5. Specify when you want your content campaign to run. Select Select campaign dates to choose a start and end date, and then select Set.
If you want to create an ongoing campaign for evergreen content, select the No end date toggle and select a start date only.

6. (Optional) Add link setting presets (see Create and manage link setting presets) and tags to every post in the campaign (see Create and manage tags).
7. Select Create Campaign.

Your campaign is now available for all organization members to associate with their posts. Organization members can filter their content calendar by campaign to see all content scheduled and published in the campaign (see Manage your content calendar).

Manage your content campaigns

Edit or archive your campaign, or extend expired campaigns. You can also report on the performance of your campaign in Hootsuite Analytics.

• Select Edit next to an active or expired campaign in the list to change its name, summary details, or date range.
• Select More actions next to an active or expired campaign, and then select Archive to hide it. Members will no longer see the campaign and will not be able to assign it to their posts. You can unarchive a campaign at any time.

Report on the performance of your campaigns by filtering your Analytics report metrics by tag or campaign. Learn how to report on campaign performance.

Assign a campaign to a post

If a campaign’s time frame is active or in the future, your organization members can select it when they create a post and associate that post with the campaign. To associate a post with a campaign, select it from the Campaign list.

Selecting a campaign applies its link settings and tags to the post. You can't schedule the post outside of the campaign’s defined date range.
