Review and edit contact information

When you’re in a conversation with a contact in Inbox, you can find useful details about them in the Contact area, to the right of the conversation view. Advanced, Business, and Enterprise plan members can also add information about contacts here for other agents to read (see Manage contacts in Inbox). Contact attributes are shown on the right of the conversation view.

Along with the contact’s name, social handle, and profile image, you’ll see the logo of the social network they used for their message. Depending on your plan type, you may also see the following:

• Common contact attributes such as an email address, a phone number, or a URL.
• Either Validated or Not validated. Contacts are validated when Inbox is integrated with an external CRM system and the contact has been looked up and verified.
• Social network-specific contact attributes, like follower count, location, and whether the customer is verified on the social network. This information is pulled from the contact's social accounts and only displays when the contact has filled this information in on their social profiles. This information differs depending on the social network.
• CRM-managed contact attributes, indicated by a Linked label. You can also edit CRM-managed attributes if your administrator has enabled that functionality.

• A VIP attribute. You can edit the contact's details to turn this attribute on and promote the contact to VIP status. If your organization uses VIP contact groups, VIP are placed higher in the queue and can be routed to specific teams.
• Custom contact attributes that your team’s admins have added, such as bio, contact location, language, followers, etc.

Follow these steps to change or add attributes to a contact's profile.

1. In the Contact details panel, select the Attributes tab and then select Edit.

2. Enter the information for the attributes you want to change, and then select Save.

For X contacts, you can select Actions, and then select Follow to follow or unfollow a contact.

You can also find or add information about a contact in the conversation view. Select their profile name in one of their messages to go to their social network profile.

Add and share notes about a contact

Select the Notes tab in the Contact details view to add details about a contact for other agents to read.

Notes you add include a timestamp and the agent’s name. Any agent can edit or delete any note. Contact notes have a maximum of 2,000 characters and display in order from newest to oldest.
