Manage ad accounts and advertising permissions

Add your Meta, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn ad accounts to Hootsuite so you can promote your best-performing posts with ad spend. Create and manage ad campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, all in one place.

Before you begin

You need an ad account that is connected to your Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, X account, or LinkedIn Page before you can add it to Hootsuite . If you need to create an ad account, see the following:

Make sure that the Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, X account, or LinkedIn Page you want to promote is connected to Hootsuite.

You must have one of the following roles to manage ad accounts in Hootsuite:

  • Be an organization Super Admin or Admin.
  • Have Unlimited, Advanced, or the custom Manage ad accounts permission for the social network.

Instructions for how to do these tasks depend on your plan type. If you don't know your plan type, go to Account - you'll see it at the top of the menu.

Add an ad account to Hootsuite

Once you have connected your social account to Hootsuite, you can add the ad account associated with it to Hootsuite and start promoting your posts.

  1. Go to Account and select Social accounts and teams.
  2. Select Social Networks for your organization.

Remove an ad account from Hootsuite

Important: Removing an ad account deletes all of its campaigns from Hootsuite. The campaigns aren't deleted from the social network.

  1. Go to Account and select Social accounts and teams.
  2. Select Social Networks for your organization.

Manage advertising permissions

If you're working in a Hootsuite organization, you may have many people with access to the same social accounts. Individual members need advertising permissions for the accounts they have access to, before they can promote posts or create ad campaigns.

You set the advertising permissions for members when you set their social account permissions for a specific social account. Learn more about permissions.

  1. Go to Account and select Social accounts and teams.
  2. Select Social Networks for your organization.

  3. Select the social account (the one with the connected ad account), and then set the social account-level permissions for each team member.
  4. To allow the member to manage ad accounts, set the member's permissions for the social network to Advanced. To grant custom permissions, select Custom, and then select one of the following permissions:
    • Promote Ads - The member can promote posts on that account, create ad campaigns and connect a Meta pixel to Hootsuite's Pixel Connector
    • Manage Ad Accounts - The member can add or remove ad accounts for that account.
