Improve your performance with Social Score

Your Social Score is a snapshot of how you're performing on social compared to other businesses. We look at your posts, engagement, clicks, follower activity, and more, to see how you stack up against other top performers. We also give you personalized recommendations to help you improve and strengthen your social media presence. Over time, these recommendations get better as we learn more about you, your industry, and your audience.

Understand your scores

To calculate your score, we add your Posting and Engagement scores together (both with a max score of 50) to reach a score of 100. Your Social Score, Posting score, and Engagement score update daily.

We take into consideration all connected social accounts when we generate your score. We currently measure Instagram business profiles, Facebook Pages, LinkedIn Pages, and Twitter accounts. We plan to expand these based on feedback from customers like you.

A high Social Score is anywhere between 81 and 100. Having a high Social Score means you’re on track with other top-performing businesses.

A low Social Score is anywhere between 0 and 40, while an average Social Score is between 41 and 80. Having a low or average score means there’s room for growth. Check out the personalized recommendations to level up on social and increase your score.

Posting score

For the Posting score, we measure how often and how consistently you post. We then compare your posting activities with the fastest growing businesses on social. We take into account how many posts you’ve published in the last 7 days, then track consistency week after week.

This score updates daily and the highest possible score is 50. We factor in all posts published to the connected social accounts, even if they weren’t published from Hootsuite (for example, if you published the post from Facebook).

Engagement score

For the Engagement score, we compare your weekly engagement rate with the fastest growing businesses on social. We include the last 7 days of follower count, clicks, and post interactions for your connected accounts, and then divide that number by total impressions.

This score updates daily and the highest possible score is 50. We factor in all posts published to the connected social accounts, even if they weren’t published from Hootsuite (for example, if you publish the post from Facebook).

How often does my score update?

Your Social Score, Posting score, and Engagement score update daily. The scores re-calculate with any publishing or engagement activity from the previous day.

Does the score include data from posts not published through Hootsuite?

Yes, we use all posts published to connected accounts to calculate your score. This includes posts you publish directly on the social network (for example, if you publish the post from Facebook).

Does the score calculate all social networks?

No. Right now the score only measures connected Instagram business profiles, Facebook Pages, LinkedIn Pages, and Twitter accounts.
