Create a Canva library

Create and save a collection of Canva designs in Hootsuite with the Canva app. You can even add existing designs to Hootsuite from your Canva account. When you’re ready to create posts, you can attach your Canva designs from your collection in your Canva content source.

Note: This integration requires a Canva account.

To create and add Canva designs to your posts on the fly, see Add Canva designs to your post.

Install the Canva app

Go to More, and then select App directory.
Search for the Canva app, select it, and then select Install.

Create a new Canva design

Go to Plan, and then select Content.
Select More apps and then select Canva from the list.
Select Design with Canva, and then select a design type. This launches the Canva design editor. Images and video automatically scale to the appropriate dimensions.
Select a template, or create one from scratch. Use Canva’s graphics, text, or design elements to create your design.
When you’re finished creating, select Save on the top right.
Select Log in, enter your Canva account email and password, and then select Log in again.
Select Save again on your design. Your design is saved in your Canva content source in Hootsuite.

Note: Designs created in Hootsuite will not be saved to your Canva account.

Access existing designs from your Canva account

Open a new browser tab and sign in to your Canva account.
Go to Plan, and then select Content from the top of the page.
Select More apps and then select Canva from the list.
Select Design with Canva, and then select a design type.
When the Canva editor is open, select Folders, which contains your existing designs.

Tip: If you don’t see Folders, it means that you aren’t signed in to your Canva account.
Select a design to continue working on it in Hootsuite. If it’s already finished, select Save to add it to your Hootsuite content source.

Note: If you edit a design that was created in your Canva account, only the version saved in Hootsuite is updated. The existing design in your Canva account will not be updated.

Edit a Canva design

Open a new browser tab and sign in to your Canva account.
Go to Plan, and then select Content from the top of the page.
Select More apps and then select Canva from the list.
Select Edit on the design to open it in the Canva editor.
Make your edits, and then select Save.

Note: If you edit a design that was created in your Canva account, only the version saved in Hootsuite is updated. The existing design in your Canva account will not be updated.

Publish a Canva design in a post

Go to Plan, and then select Content from the top of the page.
Select More apps and then select Canva from the list.
Do one of the following:
- Select Send to Composer on the design. Hootsuite starts a post with your design attached.
- Select the three dots on the design and then select View. Right-click, and save the image to your desktop. Then, when you create a new post, upload it as a media file.
