Add internal comments to a post
Use internal comments to collaborate with team members on your posts. You can add comments that only your team will see on draft, scheduled, published posts, approvals, and ad campaigns. You can upload media directly into your conversations, and mention specific team members to make sure they don't miss out on the internal conversation.
Note: Team members must belong to the same organization in Hootsuite and have permission to access the post's social account (if selected) to see internal comments on the post. Internal comments are not supported for private social accounts.
Add a comment to a post
Start a conversation with team members about a post. The post can be in draft status, scheduled, waiting for approval, or published.
- Go to Plan .
- Choose a post from your content calendar and select View internal comments.
- On the Internal comments tab, enter your comment. Your message can include up to 500 characters.
- Select Add media to attach a file (image, video, text, or PDF), or drag a file into the message window from your computer. You can attach up to nine files to each comment.
- Select Add an emoji to include an emoji reaction in your comment.
- If you want to make sure a member of your team sees the comment, type the "@" symbol and select a teammate from the list. If they have notifications enabled for internal comments, they'll get an email and an in-app message about your comment.
- Select Save comment to add your comment to the post.
Edit or delete an internal comment
You can change or delete your own internal comments on a post.
- Go to Plan .
- Choose a post from your content calendar and select View internal comments.
- If you want to make changes to a comment:
- Select Edit on the comment you want to change.
- Make your changes to the comment, and then select Save comment.
- If you want to delete a comment:
- Select Delete on the comment you want to remove, and then select Delete again in the confirmation dialog.
View internal comments on a post
You can view all of the internal comments on a post if you belong to the same organization in Hootsuite as the post author and have permission to access the post's social account. The internal comments badge displays the number of comments already made on the post. You can download any media attached to a comment, and get a link to a comment if you want to share it with another team member.
- Go to Plan .
- Choose a post from your content calendar and select View internal comments.
- If you want to download a file attached to a comment, select Download media next to the file thumbnail.
- If you want to get a link to a specific comment, select Copy link to comment.
- If you want to add an emoji reaction to a comment, select Add reaction.
Enable or disable notifications for internal comments
Choose what kind of notifications you want to receive to stay on top of internal conversations about your team's social posts. Email notifications contain a link to the comment so you can jump right into the conversation.
- Go to Account, and then select Profile.
- Select Notifications, scroll to the Internal comments section, and then select the activities you want to be notified about:
- Mentions and replies - when someone mentions you in a comment.
- Comments on all posts or drafts I've created - when someone comments on a post you created.
- Conversations I'm a part of - when someone adds a comment to a conversation where you have added a comment.
- Close the Account & Settings window.
