Find results with Quick Search

Use Quick Search in Lumen (formerly Listening (powered by Talkwalker)) to find out in real-time how an idea, a campaign, a brand, or even just a word is resonating with online audiences.

Lumen supports both simple and advanced queries, giving you full control over your results. You can enter your own search query or select a trending hashtag, brand, or event, and filter by location (all locations are included by default). As you type, Lumen validates your query syntax and flags any errors, so you can correct them before running your search.

This article describes the new Social OS experience. If you haven't switched yet, select the Classic tab for instructions. Learn more about the Social OS experience.

Run a search

Use a combination of text and search operators (up to 1000 characters) to get results for your search. See About search query syntax for a list of supported search operators.

Go to Lumen, enter your search term in the Quick Search field, and then press ENTER.
Tip: You can also select a search term from the Top hashtags, Top brands, or Top events lists, and select a region from the Trend locations list.
(Optional) Select the AI Query builder to start your search, then select one of the following options and enter the relevant details when prompted.
- Brand reputation monitoring: Enter the brand name and any optional context.
- Product launch: Enter the brand and the product name or model you want to track.
- Campaign performance monitoring: Enter the campaign name or hashtag and any related brands or additional hashtags.
- Crisis monitoring: Enter the brand and a description of the incident, and provide relevant keywords.
- Generic query: Enter keywords and refine the query using industries, products, or regions.
When you're done, select Generate. You can refine the query as necessary.
Review your search results to see engagement, overall sentiment, and top words and themes associated with your search term.
Note: The results widgets available to you depend on the Lumen package. See About Lumen search result widgets for details on the information contained in each widget.
(Optional) Select a timeframe for your results (1 day, 7 days, or 30 days), or use the calendar to specify a custom date range.
(Optional) Select Filters to narrow your results by sentiment, media type, country, or language. See Filter results and customize widgets for more information.
(Optional) Select Refresh results to update your search results, or select the search bar to enter a revised search term and press ENTER.
For AI-built searches, point to the search name to view and edit the query syntax, including keywords, excluded terms, and data types.

Go to Listening, enter your search term in the Quick Search field, and then press ENTER.
You can also select a search term from any of the Top hashtags, Top brands, or Top events lists, and select a specific region from the Trend locations list.
(Optional) Select the AI Query Builder to start your search. In the AI Query Builder window, select one of the following options to generate a pre-defined search query and enter the relevant details when prompted. You can refine the query as necessary.
- Brand reputation monitoring: Enter the brand name and any optional context.
- Product launch: Enter the brand and the product name or model you want to track.
- Campaign performance monitoring: Enter the campaign name or hashtag and any related brands or additional hashtags.

When you have entered your query details, select Generate.
Review your search results to see engagement, overall sentiment, and top words and themes associated with your search term.

Edit your search

You can give your Quick Search a new label, assign a different color to the label, or make changes to your search term.

On the Quick Search results page, select More in the search query field, then select Edit.
In the Edit search window, do one or more of the following:
- Enter a new label for the Quick Search.
- Select a different color for the Quick Search label.
- Edit the search query.
Select Confirm to save your changes.
