Troubleshoot the Hootsuite mobile app

If your Hootsuite mobile app is not behaving as expected, try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Install the latest Hootsuite app update from the app store

The latest version of the Hootsuite mobile app has the most recent feature updates and bug fixes, and will often address any issues.

The lowest officially supported version of iOS on the Hootsuite mobile app is 14.

Check the version for the installed app

  1. In the Hootsuite mobile app, select your account profile picture .
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. The version number is shown in the bottom right.

Check your OS version

  1. Open the Settings app on your mobile device.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select About.
  4. Look for a number next to the version. This is the iOS version on your mobile device.

Clear cache in the app settings

By clearing the cache, you'll erase all the cached items and any Hootsuite history that might be keeping the app from working.

  1. Select your account profile picture .
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Clear cache.

Uninstall and then reinstall the Hootsuite app

Removing and reinstalling apps is a common troubleshooting step to delete all data and start fresh to ensure the app is working as expected. Loading issues, like a blank or black screen, are often fixed with these steps.

Uninstall the Hootsuite mobile app

  1. Touch-and-hold the Hootsuite mobile app.
  2. Select Remove App.
  3. Select Delete App to confirm.
  4. Select Delete to confirm again.

Note: Uninstalling the Hootsuite mobile app does not delete your Hootsuite account. See Manage your mobile subscription.

Reinstall the Hootsuite mobile app

  1. Open the App Store on your mobile device.
  2. Select search (magnifying glass icon), enter Hootsuite in the search field, and then select Search.
  3. Select Install on the Hootsuite mobile app.
  4. Select Open.

Important: After the app is reinstalled, re-enable notifications in the Hootsuite mobile app and in your device settings (see Manage Hootsuite mobile notifications).

Troubleshoot notifications

If you have Hootsuite mobile app notifications turned on but you aren't getting them, check your device settings for any settings that might be blocking them.

  • Ensure that notifications for the app are enabled in your device settings as well (see Manage Hootsuite mobile notifications).
  • Ensure that notifications are not set to hidden on your lock screen.
    1. In your device Settings, select Notifications.
    2. Select Show Previews.
    3. Select Always.
  • If Cellular Data is not enabled for the Hootsuite mobile app, this could be affecting your notification delivery.
  • Do not disturb mode will block push notifications. Other energy-saving device settings or apps can also prevent notifications from being pushed out properly.

If you’re still not getting notifications after checking your device settings, try resetting your notifications with the following steps:

  1. Turn off each notification in the Hootsuite mobile app. Select each toggle to turn it off.
  2. Clear the message memory in the app. See the earlier section, Clear cache in the app settings.
  3. Sign out of the Hootsuite app, and then sign back in.
  4. Turn each notification back on. Select each toggle to enable it.
