Create a Facebook Messenger ad campaign

You can use click-to-Messenger ads to invite your audience to start a conversation with you in Messenger. When someone in your target audience clicks on your Facebook ad's Call To Action (CTA), the Messenger app opens. Messenger ads can be displayed in Facebook's desktop feed, mobile feed, or in Messenger itself.

When you create a Messenger ad campaign, you can set up a welcome message to greet users who click on your ads, or upload a JSON file template message. These template messages can include text, images, or CTAs, and enable you to connect a bot for quick replies.

Create a Messenger campaign

  1. On the Legacy Hootsuite Ads home page, select New Campaign.
  2. On the Facebook tab, enter a name for your campaign and select an ad account.
  3. In the What do you want to promote? section, select Facebook Messenger, and then select Proceed.

    • Select Custom template, and then select Choose file to upload a JSON file, or select paste your Custom template here to paste in your JSON custom template code.
