Search for topics and more in X streams
You can use Twitter quick search in stream feeds to find trending topics and users. You can also find content by keyword or hashtag. Save your search as a stream to monitor important conversations. For example, you can create streams that “listen” to what people are saying about your brand and competitors.
You must have a connected X (formerly Twitter) account to search X.
Search for keywords or view trending topics
- Go to More, select Streams, and then select Twitter quick search on the left.
- Choose your search query:
- Select a trending topic from the quick search list.
- Search by keyword or hashtag. When creating a search stream with multiple keywords or hashtags, remember to use parentheses to group hashtags together and exclude reposts. For example, using
(#Hashtag1 OR #Hashtag2 OR #Hashtag3) -RT
will return posts containing any of the specified hashtags and exclude retweets.
- Optionally, select Save as Stream at the bottom of the search results to save the content as a new stream. The stream displays content based on that keyword (not based on location).
- Point to a post in the search results to like, reply, repost, or send a direct message to that X user. Selecting Like allows you to like the post from multiple X accounts.
- Select the X at the top to close the search window.
You cannot search trending topics in the Hootsuite mobile app.
- Go to Streams.
- Select Search .
- Select Search Twitter, enter a keyword, and then select Search on your keypad. Under the Tweets section of the results list, select Show more to view all results.
- Optional: Select Save in the top right to save the search as a stream.
