Add assets from a content library

Content library assets are an organization's pre-approved post templates and images. Assets make it easy to publish content that's relevant and on-brand.

Plans: This feature is restricted to certain plan types. If you don't see this feature, visit the Hootsuite plans page to see if it is included in your plan.

You need to be a member with access to the organization's content library to use the assets. Organizations can have many libraries and can share specific content with selected teams.

Browse your content library assets

Access and browse through your library assets.

  1. Go to Plan, and then select Content.
  2. Select the Content library tab, and then select a library from the list Down arrow icon..
  3. Select the Media tab to view all media assets in the library, or select the Templates tab to view all templates in the library. You can also sort assets by tag.

View the details of your library assets

  1. Go to Plan, and then select Content.
  2. Select the Content library tab, and then select a library from the list Down arrow icon..
  3. Choose an asset, and then select Show options, and then select View details. You can view the following information for each asset:
    • any tags applied to the asset
    • the asset's availability, including the timeframe during which it can be used, if applicable
    • when it was added and by whom
    • the number of times it has been used, and when it was last used
    • the media type and size

Add a content library asset when creating a post

Access your content library and add library media assets to posts.

  1. Select Plan to start and schedule your post in a calendar view, or start your post from Create.
  2. Select Add media, and then select Media library to open a library and browse its stored media assets. Post templates are not displayed here (see the following section Create a post from a content library template).

    Tip: If you've installed any of the following apps from the Hootsuite app directory, you can add videos from them right from the media library: Adobe stock, AEM assets for Hootsuite, Box for Hootsuite, Dropbox for Hootsuite, OneDrive, and TINT.
  3. Select an image to attach it to your post.

Create a post from a content library template

Simplify publishing with pre-approved templates from your organization's content library. Customize templates to make them your own while following your brand's style. You need to be a team member with access to the team's content library to use templates.

You can select a predrafted, pre-approved post template from a content library and use it to publish a post right away or schedule it for a specific day and time.

  1. Go to Plan, and then select Content.
  2. Select the Content library tab, and then select a library from the list Down arrow icon..
  3. Select the Templates tab.
  4. Choose an available template, and then select Create post to start your post with all of the template elements prepopulated in it.

    Templates with links will always contain the full link, so consider adding a shortener before publishing or scheduling the post. Learn how to shorten and track links.
