Closed beta - Generate a Social Score to track and improve your performance

This feature is currently in closed beta for a select group of customers.

Your Social Score shows a snapshot of your social media health and progress. We’ve analyzed data from businesses like yours to understand the patterns and actions of social media's highest performers. We analyze your publishing habits, post interactions, clicks, follower activity, and more, to compare your performance with those high performers.

Based on your score, we provide personalized recommendations to help you achieve your social media goals and reach the top percentile of growing businesses. These recommendations will improve over the coming months as we learn more about you, your industry, and your audience.

Calculate your social score

The first time you access the home page, you are prompted to generate your score. After that, you can return to the home page at any time to review your progress.

  1. Go to Home .
  2. Select Generate my score.

Understand your scores

The Social Score adds your posting and engagement scores together (both with a max score of 50) to reach a score of 100. Your Social Score, posting score, and engagement score update daily.

Your scores represent an overall average for all connected and active social accounts. We currently measure Instagram business profiles, Facebook Pages, LinkedIn Pages, and Twitter accounts. We plan to expand these based on our customer feedback.

A high Social Score is anywhere between 81 and 100. Having a high Social Score means you’re on track with other top-performing businesses.

A low Social Score is anywhere between 0 and 40, while an average Social Score is between 41 and 80. Having a low or average score means there’s room for growth in the areas of engagement and publishing consistency.

Posting score

The Posting score compares your publishing consistency with the most successful businesses on social media. Your score measures how many posts you’ve published over the last 7 days, and if your behavior is consistent week after week.

This score updates daily and the highest possible score is 50. We measure all of the posts published to the connected social accounts, even if they weren’t published from Hootsuite (for example, if you published the post directly on Facebook).

Engagement score

The Engagement score measures the amount of engagement you receive on your post, relative to the number of people who see it (your engagement rate). We calculate the engagement score by dividing the total number of interactions, clicks, and followers by the total number of impressions. Then, we average the scores across your active social media accounts.

This score updates daily and the highest possible score is 50. It measures all of the posts published to the connected social accounts, even if they weren’t published from Hootsuite (for example, if you publish the post directly on Facebook).
