Join Amplify and connect your social networks

  

Amplify is available as both a mobile app and a desktop app within Hootsuite. This article describes how to set up and get started on both mobile and desktop.

Create your password and log in

You should receive an email invitation to join Amplify from your company or organization. Follow the instructions in the email invitation to create a password and log in.

To begin using Amplify mobile app:

  1. Download the Amplify app for iOS or Android from the app store for your device.
  2. Start the app and log in with the password you created when you received the welcome email.
  3. Select the content topics you want to follow, and then select Done.
  4. Select Notify me to receive notifications when new content for your chosen topics is added to Amplify.

To begin using the desktop app, sign in to Hootsuite.com and select Amplify amplify-icon.png. Topic selections you made in the Amplify mobile app should appear in Amplify for desktop.

Connect your social accounts

Amplify supports sharing to Twitter, LinkedIn profiles, Facebook profiles and Pages, and Instagram (although your organization may disable sharing to certain social networks). Connecting a social account to Amplify also adds that account to your personal social networks in the Hootsuite dashboard (if you use it).

The first time you connect your social networks to Amplify, some may require you to sign in to authorize the connection. LinkedIn and Facebook display their own authorization prompts that list the types of data that Amplify can access when connected. These prompts must be accepted to connect your accounts.

 Mobile  Desktop
  1. Select Profile .
  2. Select Settings  in the top right.
  3. Select Connect (social network name), enter your social network credentials, and then select Authorize app.
    If you are already signed in to Twitter or Facebook app on your mobile device, your account is automatically authenticated when you select Connect.
  4. Select Continue.

Tip: If you already have social accounts connected in your Hootsuite account, select Select Social Networks, use the drop-down menus to select the default accounts you want to share to from Amplify, and then select Update.

 

Disconnect a social account

  1. Select Profile .
  2. Select Settings  in the top right.
  3. Choose the social account to disconnect.
  4. Select OK.

 

Important: Disconnecting a social account from Amplify also disconnects it from your personal social accounts in Hootsuite, removes any scheduled content and streams for the profile, and stops analytics data collection.

At Hootsuite, we're committed to the privacy and security of our users’ data. Hootsuite and Amplify only publish to your social accounts on your behalf if you have opted to do so from within the apps. Permissions related to connection or friend data are used for calculating Analytics metrics, like reach, and do not use the personal information of those connections.
