Manage Google Ads campaigns

  

Analyze your performance metrics by ad group, ad, or keyword, and then make changes to your running Google Ads search campaigns to optimize their performance. Manage the campaign settings, ads, ad groups, or keywords of a campaign.

Edit a Google campaign's settings or target

Edit any Google search campaign's settings, including bid strategy, start and end date, daily budget, status, URL options, and enabling dynamic ads. You can also edit targeting at the campaign level including target network, language, location, and audience user lists. To edit targeting at the ad group level, see below.

  1. Click the Dashboard tab of a Google campaign, and then scroll down to the Campaign Details and Current Target boxes.

  2. Click Edit (pencil icon) next to any of the settings to make changes.
  3. Click Save.

Edit, clone, or delete an ad

Edit the content of an ad, clone it, or delete it from the campaign. Dynamic search ads cannot be edited. To make changes to a dynamic search ad, clone it and then delete the original.

  1. Click the All Ads tab of a Google campaign, and then click Actions Actions_icon.png to the right of the ad.
  2. Click Edit, make changes to any of the text of your ad, and then click Save.
    Or click Clone, complete the ad contents, and then click Save.
    Or click Delete, and then click Yes, delete this ad to confirm.

Add a new ad

Add a new ad to any of your existing ad groups.

  1. Click the Ad Groups tab of a Google campaign.
  2. Click on the ad group name that you want to add the new ad to.
  3. Click New Ad, and then select the ad type: Search, Dynamic Search, or Call Only. Dynamic search ads can only be added to dynamic search ad groups, while Search and Call Only ads can be added to standard ad groups.

  4. Complete the fields to build you ad, and then click Create Ad.

Add a new ad group

Add a completely new standard or dynamic search ad group to a running campaign.

  1. Click the Ad Groups tab of a Google campaign.
  2. Click New Ad Group, and then select Standard or Dynamic. If Dynamic is greyed out, dynamic search ads must be enabled in the campaign’s settings (see above).

  3. Complete the fields to build your new ad group, and then click Create Ad Group.

Edit or delete an ad group

Edit an ad group's status, settings including name, ad rotation strategy (Optimize selected by default), audience user lists, targeting settings, ad extensions or URL custom parameters, or delete the ad group from the campaign.

  1. Click the Ad Groups tab of a Google campaign, and then click Actions Actions_icon.png to the right of the ad group.
  2. Click Edit to make changes.
    Or click Delete, and then click Yes, delete this ad group to confirm.

Add new keywords to an ad group

Add additional keywords that will surface your ads if they are used in a search.

  1. Click the Ad Groups tab of a Google campaign.
  2. Click the name of the ad group from the list.
  3. Click Ads in the table heading, and select Keywords from the drop-down instead.

  4. Click New Keywords.
  5. Enter your new keywords, one word or phrase per line, and then click Create Keywords.

Pause, delete, or manage budget for a keyword

Maximum CPC can be edited at the keyword level for campaigns using the Manual or Enhanced CPC bid strategies.

  1. Click the Ad Groups tab of a Google campaign.
  2. Click the name of the ad group from the list.
  3. Click Ads in the table heading, and select Keywords from the drop-down instead.

  4. Click Edit Edit.png to change the status or Max. CPC of the keywords, or click Delete Delete.png on the right.
