Use topics to categorize Amplify content

As an Amplify admin, you can categorize Amplify content by tagging it with open or closed topics. Topics are simply category names used to organize content and Amplify users into groups.

Open topics are accessible to all Amplify users. Users can discover and subscribe to open topics to customize their own experience.

Closed topics are not visible in Amplify, but are used to control the content that app users will see. Admins can subscribe users to closed topics in the user management stream to segment them into groups. Anyone not subscribed to a closed topic will not see any of its content.

In the mobile app, users see content from both the open and closed topics they are subscribed to in their Home  and Content  feeds. The Content feed also contains all content tagged for everyone in the organization.

As an admin, you first create topics, and then you subscribe users and teams to those topics.

Create a topic

  1. In Streams , select your Amplify stream, select More  in the top right, and then select Topics.
  2. Select New topic in the top right.
  3. Enter a topic name, select Open or Closed, and then select Save.

Closed topics in your list are indicated by the lock icon .

Select a topic in the list to see how many subscribers it has and how many posts have been tagged with it. Select CSV at the top to download a .csv file for the topic, containing a list of subscribers, their email addresses, and job titles.

In the Drafts, Scheduled, or Posted queues, filter Amplify content by one or more topics with the Filter  button at the top of the stream.

Delete a topic

  1. In Streams , select your Amplify stream, select More  in the top right, and then select Topics.
  2. Select a topic from the list, and then select Delete.

Important: Deleting the topic unsubscribes all users from it, and expires any posts belonging only to that topic. Posts belonging to other topics as well will remain in those topics and only have the deleted one removed.

  3. Click YesDelete to confirm.

Subscribe a user to a topic

  1. Select More  in the top right of your Amplify stream, and then select Members.
  2. Select the user from the user list, and then select Subscriptions at the bottom.
  3. Select the topics to subscribe the user to, and then select Save.

Subscribe a team to a topic

  1. Select More  in the top right of your Amplify stream, and then select Members & Teams.
  2. Select the Teams tab.
  3. Select a team from the list, and then select Subscriptions at the bottom.
  4. Select the topics to subscribe the team to, and then select Save.
