What do the errors “Device pairing required for Instagram profile [profile name]” and "No subscriptions are available for Instagram. Please configure a network for publishing" mean?
These error messages mean that no one has push notifications enabled for the Instagram account you are trying to send/schedule content to. To be able to send/schedule content to the Instagram account at least one user must have push notifications enabled on their mobile device for that account.
What are push notifications?
Push notifications are notifications sent to the Hootsuite mobile app on a user’s mobile device to signify that their Instagram content is ready to be published.
To receive push notifications, notifications for the Hootsuite app need to be enabled in your mobile device settings, and notifications for the Instagram profile need to be enabled in your Hootsuite app.
Who will receive push notifications for Instagram accounts?
Any user (Advanced, Editor or Custom) who has enabled push notifications for the Instagram account will receive a notification when a post is ready to publish.
These users need to have login credentials to the Instagram account natively so they can sign in to the Instagram app on their mobile device and publish to the correct profile.
Can I resize my images before posting them?
Images sent to any social networks should be in their desired format before uploading, as they cannot be resized or cropped from the compose message box.
Who can enable push notifications for Instagram accounts?
Any user with publishing permissions (Advanced, Editor and select Custom permissions) can turn on push notifications.
How do I turn on push notifications?
To turn on push notifications in your Hootsuite app
- Tap Settings (for Android this is in the main menu ).

Note: If push notifications for the entire Hootsuite app are turned off under your phone’s OS settings, you will need to enable notifications for the mobile app before you can turn on push notifications for the Instagram account.

How do I change the phone number associated with my Instagram account?
Instagram accounts are not associated with specific phone numbers. The phone number requested when you set up Instagram publishing is used to send you an SMS message to make sure you download the latest version of the Hootsuite app on your device.
To set up publishing on a new device
- Download the latest version of the Hootsuite app on the new device.
- Sign in to the Hootsuite account that the Instagram profile has been added to.
- Download and sign in to the Instagram app on the new device.
- Turn on Instagram push notifications in the Hootsuite app.
