Manage mobile notifications - iOS


The notifications available on the Hootsuite mobile app for iOS are:

  • Instagram publishing notifications - To alert you when posts being published with the mobile notification workflow ready to be published on the Instagram app. See Publish via mobile notification.
  • Twitter mentions and direct message notifications - To alert you to Twitter profile activity when someone mentions you in a tweet, or sends you a direct message.
  • Facebook Page post, comment and reply notifications - To alert you to Facebook Page activity when there are new posts on your Page, or new comments or replies.
  • Approval notifications - For Business and Enterprise customers, to alert you to new posts that require approval, have been rejected, have been approved, or have expired.

When notifications are enabled, they will appear within the app’s notification center. Notifications are kept in the notification center for seven days. The Instagram and Twitter notifications listed above can also be enabled as push notifications.

Notifications sync across all devices. They also sync with the web dashboard notification center, available to Business and Enterprise customers.

Important: To receive notifications they must be enabled in your iOS device settings as well as within the Hootsuite app.

To enable notifications in your device settings

  1. Open your iOS device Settings.
  2. Select Notifications.
  3. Scroll down to find and then select the Hootsuite app.
  4. Select Allow Notifications.
  5. Return to the main Settings menu, and then select Cellular.
  6. Scroll down to find the Hootsuite app and ensure that data is enabled for the app.

To enable notifications in the Hootsuite app

  1. Select your account profile picture .
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Select an account and then select the toggle on each notification type to enable it. Purple means enabled.
  5. Business and Enterprise customers will see an Approvals tab, where you can select the toggle on each notification type to enable approval notifications. Purple means enabled.

To enable a push notification, the corresponding notification center notification must also be enabled.

To view notifications

  1. Select Streams .
  2. Select the Notification center bell  in the top right.

To enable or disable Quiet Time (mute notifications)

  1. Select your account profile picture .
  2. Select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Select Quiet Time in the top right.
  5. Select the toggle to Enable Quiet Time. Purple means enabled.
  6. Select Start and End to adjust quiet times during which you will not receive notifications, and then select Save in the top right.
