Hootsuite's login verification system provides an extra layer of security by asking you to verify your account with a confirmation code sent to the Hootsuite account email address.
Login verification takes effect after too many failed login attempts, or when you (or someone else) attempt to sign in to your Hootsuite account from a new location or IP address.
Multiple failed login attempts will also trigger a Captcha. Once it is triggered, even if the correct account email and password are entered, the Captcha and login verification steps must be completed.
A sign in attempt from a new location will also prompt a notification email to be sent to the email address associated with your Hootsuite account.
To verify your account
- On the Verify Your Account page, click Send (your account email address). A confirmation code will be sent to that email address.
- Open the Hootsuite email and copy the confirmation code.
- Paste the code into the Verify Your Account page, and then click Submit. Once verified, this location is logged and own't prompt another verification.
If you do not receive the verification email, click Resend on the verification page.
Also ensure that the email address firstname.lastname@example.org is whitelisted, or added to your email server’s ‘safe list’. Otherwise the confirmation email could be blocked or filtered into your spam, junk or trash folders.
Contact your email provider directly if you need assistance with whitelisting.
Tip: Reset your password if you suspect someone is attempting to access your account.
For added security, you can also enable Google Authenticator in your account settings to prompt 2-step verification any time Hootsuite detects a sign in attempt from a new location.
