Reconnect Social Networks

Your Hootsuite dashboard connects to and accesses social networks through application programming interfaces (APIs). These connections may break for a number of reasons, which can be as simple as software updates or password changes. When this happens, the affected social network will often show an exclamation mark in a red box in the User Profile section of the dashboard, which requires a manual reconnection. 

Exclamation notifications can take up to 48 hours to display. Losing the ability to post or refresh usually means reconnecting is needed.

To reconnect a personal social network

  1. Select your profile image from the top of the launch menu.
  2. Double-click the social profile showing an exclamation mark (or the social profile that has been problematic).
  3. Click Connect with (social network).
  4. Enter your social network credentials, and complete any additional prompts to authorize the reconnection.

To reconnect an organization's social network

  1. Select your profile image from the top of the launch menu.
  2. Click View Social Networks under the organization name.
  3. Select the social profile with an exclamation mark (or the social profile that has been problematic) from the list on the left, and then click the Profile Settings tab.
  4. Click Connect with (social network).
  5. Enter your social network credentials, and complete any additional prompts to authorize the reconnection.
