Create Insights boards or reports

Compile the data from your streams in a visual way with boards and reports. Boards and reports both use the same widgets to display your social media metrics, and have all the same visualization options.

Boards are real-time dashboards, great for viewing and interacting with your data without the space constraints of a report. Use boards for things like campaign management or social media listening. Reports are customizable documents for data analysis and sharing with stakeholders in .pdf format. Select an email frequency and send the report regularly to specific recipients. Use reports for demonstrating KPIs, campaign effectiveness, or competitive intelligence.

Create boards and reports from scratch, from suggested templates, or by converting one into the other. Boards and reports can be converted between formats at any time, but they can’t both exist at the same time.

Boards and reports are visible to all users in your view. View all boards/reports in your view by date updated or created, or sort by individual creator. Boards and reports are dynamic, meaning they will continuously update to display the information from the selected default timeframe (today, yesterday, the last week, last two weeks, or last month). If you want a board or report to remain static, select a custom timeframe.

To create a board from scratch

  1. Select Boards boards from the side navigation menu.
  2. Click Create new, and then click Edit edit at the top of the board.
  3. Enter a board title and description (optional), set a default timeframe for the board widgets, and then click Update.
  4. Click Add Widget add widget in the bottom-right corner, and then select a widget.
  5. Complete all the widget configuration fields to display the most accurate data, and then click Insert. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add additional widgets.

  6. Click Go Back go back in the top-left corner to close the board. Changes save automatically.

tip.png  Depending on the widget, resizing it will show more data.

To create a board using a template

  1. Select Boards boards from the side navigation menu.
  2. Click Create from template.
  3. Select a board template, and then click Next.
  4. Complete as many fields as possible for the new board to display the most accurate data, and then click Create.
  5. Click Go Back go back in the top-left corner to close the board. Changes save automatically.

To convert a board into a report

  1. Select Boards boards from the side navigation menu.
  2. Select a board.
  3. Click Convert to Report convert at the top of the dashboard.
  4. Review how your content will be affected by the conversion, and then click Convert.
  5. Access your report by selecting Reports Reports from the side navigation menu.

To create a report from scratch

  1. Select Reports Reports from the side navigation menu.
  2. Click Create new, and then click Edit edit at the top of the report.
  3. Enter a report title and description (optional), and set a default timeframe for the report widgets.
  4. Enter the email addresses, separated by commas, that will receive the report by email, and then click Update.
  5. Click Add Widget add widget in the bottom-right corner, and then select a widget.
  6. Complete all the widget configuration fields to display the most accurate data, and then click Insert. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add additional widgets.

  7. Optional: Select a page layout size in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  8. Optional: Click Cover Page cover page and select a stock cover page for your report.
  9. Click Email frequency set email frequency and select the interval at which the selected recipients will receive the emailed report.
  10. Click Go Back go back in the top-left corner to close the report. Changes save automatically.

To create a report using a template

  1. Select Reports Reports from the side navigation menu.
  2. Click Create from template.
  3. Select a report template, and then click Next.
  4. Complete all the configuration fields for the new report to display the most accurate data, and then click Create.
  5. Click Go Back go back in the top-left corner to close the report. Changes will save automatically.

To convert a report into a board

  1. Select Reports Reports from the side navigation menu.
  2. Select a report.
  3. Click Convert to Board convert at the top of the dashboard.
  4. Review how your content will be affected by the conversion, and then click Convert.
  5. Access your board by selecting Boards boards from the side navigation menu.

Pinning widgets from stream metrics copies them to an existing board or report. This saves you having to recreate the widget. Widgets displaying multiple filters cannot be pinned at this time.

To pin a stream metric to a board or report

  1. Hover your mouse over the side navigation menu, and then select the stream from the streams list.
  2. Under Main Sections, click Metrics.
  3. Hover your mouse over the widget, and click Pin Widget pin widget in the top-right corner of the widget.
  4. Click the board or report you want to add the widget to. It will be added automatically.
