Add tags to track your outbound posts
Add tags to outgoing posts to help you track the success of your published content. You can add outbound tags when creating or editing a post. Or add tags to inbound posts in streams. Tags help you track your published content in Hootsuite Analytics. Tags are not publicly visible in your posts.

The steps in this article apply to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. You can only add tags to outbound posts when using the web version of Hootsuite.
You must have super admin, admin, or custom organization permissions to ‘Manage Message Tags’ to create new tags and manage existing ones in the tag library. See also Manage tags.
Create a tag or add a tag to an outgoing post
- Go to Composer
.
- Next to Tags at the bottom of the window, select Add.
- Select Add tags, and then choose one of the following options:
- Tag this post - Select the tags to add to your post. You can enter a keyword in the Add tags box to search for a tag.
- Create a new tag - Enter a new tag name, and then select Create tag "[tag name]".
- Select Add.
