Search Twitter in Streams
You can use Twitter quick search in Streams to find trending topics and users. You can also find content by keyword or hashtag. Save your search as a stream to monitor important conversations. For example, you can create streams that “listen” to what people are saying about your brand and competitors.
You must have a connected Twitter account to search Twitter.
Important: X (formerly known as Twitter) is making changes to mentions and location that will affect Streams. See Changes to X mentions and location - Sept 18, 2023.
Search for keywords or view trending topics
- Go to Streams
, and then select Twitter quick search on the left.
- Choose your search query:
- Select a trending topic from the quick search list.
- Search by keyword or hashtag.When creating a Twitter search stream with multiple keywords or hashtags, remember to use parentheses to group hashtags together and exclude retweets. For example, using
(#Hashtag1 OR #Hashtag2 OR #Hashtag3) -RT
will return tweets containing any of the specified hashtags and exclude retweets.
- Optionally, select Save as Stream at the bottom of the search results to save the content as a new stream. The stream displays content based on that keyword (not based on location).
- Point to a tweet in the search results to like, reply, retweet, or send a direct message to that Twitter user. Selecting Like allows you to like the tweet from multiple Twitter accounts.
- Select the X at the top to close the search window.
Twitter search displays a list of worldwide trending topics by default. If location settings are enabled on your device, local trending topics are listed by default.
- Go to Streams
.
- Select Search
.
- Choose your search query:
- Select a trending topic from the trends list. Select Change to select a new trend location or choose Worldwide.
- Select Search Twitter, enter a keyword, and then select Search on your keypad. Under the Tweets section of the results list, select Show more to view all results.
- Optional: Select Save in the top right to save the search as a stream.
