Add or remove someone from your X list

X/Twitter lists let you group X users together, such as by company, industry, or geographical location, to focus on conversations you want to monitor. You can manage X/Twitter lists from within a desktop X/Twitter list stream in Hootsuite. X users don’t need to be following you for you to add them to your lists. See Create an X feed.

Important: To add users to X lists, you must already have existing X list stream feeds.

Add someone to your X/Twitter list

You can add a user to your X/Twitter list by selecting the user from one of your X/Twitter streams or by searching for a user in an existing X/Twitter stream.

Add someone using their user profile

  1. Go to More, select Streams, and then open a stream that contains a post by the X user you would like to add to an existing X/Twitter list.
  2. You can search for the user by selecting Filter by at the top of an X stream.

  3. Select the user name or avatar to open the user's profile page.
  4. Select More from the top of the profile page, and then select Add To List.
  5. Select an existing X/Twitter list, and then select Save.
  6. At the top of your X/Twitter list stream, select to filter by Search or Followers:
    • To filter by search, enter a keyword.
    • To filter by follower count, move the slider to display the profiles that have at least that number of followers.

Add someone using your X/Twitter list stream preferences

  1. Go to Streams, and then go to your X/Twitter list stream.
  2. Select More options at the top of the search stream, and then select Preferences.
  3. Enter an X user name (@ is not required), select Add, and then select Done.

Remove someone from your X list

You can remove users from your X list. When you remove someone from a X list, the user is not removed from your X account. If you want to stop seeing posts from that person, you need to unfollow them.

  1. Go to Streams, and then go to your X list stream.
  2. Select More options at the top of the search stream, and then select Preferences.
  3. Under Remove users, select Delete next to the user's name, select OK, and then select Done.
