Direct message Twitter contacts - Android

You can receive direct messages only from people you follow, unless you enable direct messages from anyone in your Twitter account settings.

You can send direct messages by either finding the Twitter account first (through the streams or search features), or directly from the Composer.

Direct message a Twitter contact from a stream

  1. Select Streams .
  2. Locate a tweet made by the user you want to message, and select their name or profile picture (avatar).
  3. Select Direct message at the bottom.
  4. Enter your message after the prefilled handle name.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select Send Now.

Direct message a Twitter contact from the Composer

  1. Select Compose.
  2. Select the Plus icon , and then select a Twitter profile to send the message.
  3. Select the left arrow at the top to go back.
  4. Enter d followed by the @Twitterhandle you are messaging, followed by your message.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select Send Now.
