Add assets from a media library

Media library assets are an organization's pre-approved post templates and images. Assets make it easy to publish content that's relevant and on-brand.

Plans: Business and Enterprise

You need to be a team member with access to the team's content library to use the assets. Organizations can have many libraries and can share specific content with selected teams.

Browse your media library assets

Access and browse through your library assets.

  1. Go to Plan, and then select Content from the top of the page.
  2. Under Content Sources, select Content Library.
  3. Select a content library. You can select to view All content or just Images or Messages. You can also sort assets by age, popularity, availability, or tag.

View the details of your library assets

Within a library, you can view the following for each asset:

  • When it was added or last used.
  • The number of times it has been used.
  • Its tags.
  • Its availability timeframe, if applicable.

Add a media asset when creating a post

Access your media library and add library media assets when you create a post.

  1. Start your post from Create or in your content calendar in Plan.
  2. Select Media library to open a library and browse its stored media assets. Post templates are not displayed here. For those, see the following section Create a post from a content library template.

Tip: If you've installed any of the following apps from the Hootsuite app directory, you can add videos from them right from the media library: Adobe stock, AEM assets for Hootsuite, Box for Hootsuite, Dropbox for Hootsuite, OneDrive, and TINT.
  3. Select an image to attach it to your post.

You can select a predrafted, pre-approved post template from a content library and use it to publish a post right away or schedule it for a specific day and time.

  1. Go to Create, and then select Content library template.
  2. Select Messages in the top right to display only templates.
  3. Select a template, and then select Create from the top of the page to start your post with all of the template elements prepopulated in it. Templates with links will always contain the full link, so consider adding a shortener before publishing or scheduling the post. Learn how to shorten and track links.
