Create Amplify content for advocates to share

You can create original content in the Hootsuite composer, pull content from streams you follow, or use the Hootsuite Syndicator app plugin to share content. Any content that your advocates suggest appears in the Drafts queue for review.

Audience: Admins

Create original content

You create and publish Amplify content with Hootsuite by selecting Create to open the composer. The preview shows you how your message will look when it's published.

Tip: For detailed instructions on creating new content using the composer, see Create and publish posts. For tips on creating and discovering relevant content to share, read Maximize your social reach through employee advocacy.

When you're ready to share content to Amplify, use the following steps to publish or schedule your content, or save it as a draft.

    • Topics: Select a topic to categorize your content (see Use topics to categorize Amplify content).
    • Compliance: You may chose to lock content to prevent it from being edited. If you use Proofpoint Social Syndicate, you can mark the post as pre-approved for Proofpoint.
    • Push notification: Turn on this option to notify your users with an app notification when content is published.
    • Email notification: Turn on this option to notify your users via email when a post is live. You can customize the email subject line.
    • Expiry date: Select Set date to choose an expiration date for your content.
  3. Select Publish now.

Your content is now published and available for advocates to share in Amplify.

Schedule your content to publish later

  1. In the Composer, select Schedule for later, choose a date and time, and then select Done.
  2. Select Schedule.
    • If you have content admin permissions, your content is added to the Scheduled queue in your Amplify stream.
    • If you don’t have content admin permissions, select Submit for approval.

Your content is accessible from the Scheduled queue in your Amplify stream, where you can revise it and your team members will be able to share it after the date and time selected.

Save content as a draft to publish or schedule later

  1. In the composer, select the arrow, and then select Send to Amplify.
Post options with Send to Amplify highlighted
  2. Under Publish to Amplify, select the options you want.
  3. Select the arrow next to Publish now, and then select Save to Amplify drafts.
    Save to Amplify drafts highlighted

Your content moves to the Drafts queue of your Amplify stream, where you can revise, schedule, or publish it. For information on publishing drafts from your Amplify stream, see Publish Amplify content from Drafts or the content library.

Apply UTM parameters

Track the success of links in your Amplify content by adding UTM parameters to all links sent from Amplify, or to links from specific domains. For instructions, see Apply link settings.

Keep in mind that while the general setup is the same, you’ll need to change a few things in Amplify:

  • Make sure the link settings are applied in Amplify.
  • To use a vanity URL, it must be set as Amplify organization and applied as default.
  • Translating a member ID is done with a custom app due to its complexity and carries an extra fee. We instead recommend using the Dynamic Social Profile value in the Amplify Organization Link Settings.

Share content from streams

Plans: Enterprise

To pull content from social streams you follow in Hootsuite, send them to Amplify directly from Streams. If you haven't used Streams in Hootsuite, follow these steps to get started.

  1. Add a social account to Hootsuite.
  2. Add streams.
  3. When you find a post you want to share to Amplify, select More Actions, and then select Send to Amplify.

The post appears at the top of the Drafts queue in your Amplify stream. Drafts haven’t been published to the mobile app yet. Content can still be edited or deleted from this queue, as well as published.

See Use boards to organize your streams for more details on organizing your tabs and streams.

Enable mobile sharing

When mobile share is enabled for your Amplify organization, app users can share content to the apps they already have on their devices using their iOS and Android mobile share feature. Analytics are not available for these shares. Contact your customer success manager to enable mobile share.

Mobile sharing options

When enabled, mobile share can still be turned off at the individual post level in your Amplify stream.

Mobile sharing examples and limitations

When creating content, some apps limit the type of content you can share. What you can share and edit depends on the social network selected.
