Manage disabled ad accounts
If Facebook has disabled your ad account, you will likely have received one of these two messages from them:
Your ad account has recently been flagged because of unusual activity. For security reasons, any ads you’re running will be paused until you can confirm your account information by contacting Facebook.
Visit Facebook’s Disabled Ad Account page for assistance resolving the issue. Hootsuite has no control over disabled accounts. The issue must be resolved with Facebook directly.
Why are accounts disabled?
Ad accounts can be disabled if they are Unsettled or Pending settlement, meaning Facebook could not process the payment for an outstanding balance on your ad account. Ensure the payment method in your Facebook ad account is up to date with an accepted form of payment. To learn more, see Ad Account Is Unsettled in the Facebook Business Help Center.
Ad accounts can be voluntarily Deactivated, or Closed, with Facebook at any time. If there is an outstanding balance on the ad account when it is deactivated, it may be Pending closure until the balance is paid. An ad account must be fully closed with the balance paid before it can be reactivated.

- Making ads for a dating, relationship, or any type of singles-related website.
- Making ads for an affiliate marketing program or third-party advertising opportunity.
- Trying to get likes for a make money online, work from home, email collection, list building, investment, or finance related page.
- Promoting a website with a forwarded URL.
- Using an illegitimate Facebook ads coupon.
- Creating a new Facebook account and immediately making ads with it.
- Submitting ads on behalf of your client for their page or website.
- Employing two or more separate accounts to make ads for the same page or website within a short period of time.
- Having lots of ads recently disapproved from several campaigns.
Tips to avoid having your account disabled
- Try to avoid using a credit card previously connected to a disabled ad account.
- For new ad accounts, don’t create too many ads in your first campaign. Start with a low number of split test variations, and slowly increase the number of ads you create. Drastically changing your advertising habits from a couple ads per week to hundreds per day can be flagged by Facebook.
- Make sure the name and billing ZIP code on your credit card matches the name and billing/company info you provided to Facebook.
- Keep your credit card valid with available credit.
- Don’t promote any URLs that load very slowly or result in a 404.
- Avoid chargebacks on your credit card or PayPal account against Facebook.
- Avoid creating ads in many different locations from where you usually use Facebook.
- Avoid changing your funding source.
