Quick Search provides the option to search for Twitter or Facebook content using the Hootsuite dashboard.

 Checking Trending Topics on Twitter

Twitter uses an algorithm to tailor the Trending Topics list. This determines immediately popular topics based on a user's location and who they follow.

Trending Topics can be viewed and saved as a stream with the Hootsuite dashboard.

To check trending topics on Twitter

  1. Click magnifying glass icon in upper-right corner of Hootsuite dashboard.

  2. Click to select trending topic.

Optional: Click Save as Stream in lower-right corner of Trending Topics list to save content as a new stream.

 Keyword Searching Twitter from Hootsuite

Searching Twitter from the Hootsuite dashboard can be completed using keyword(s). Search results can be generated within a 25 kilometer radius of user's location.

To keyword search Twitter from Hootsuite

  1. Click magnifying glass icon in upper-right corner of Hootsuite dashboard.

  2. Complete a general Twitter search (A) or a targeted search (B)
  1. Type search keyword(s), and then press ENTER.

  2. Type search keyword(s), and then click target icon.

Optional: Click Save as Stream in lower-right corner of Trending Topics list to save content as a new stream.

 Geo-Searching Twitter from Hootsuite

Geo-searching Twitter means using a location to search Twitter. Hootsuite provide results within a 25 kilometer radius of the user's location.

To geo-search Twitter from Hootsuite

  1. Click magnifying glass icon in upper-right corner of Hootsuite dashboard.

  2. Type search keyword(s), and then click target icon.
    Note: Users may be prompted to adjust browser settings to enable location detection.

Optional: Click Save as Stream in lower-right corner of Trending Topics list to save content as a new stream. This stream will be created based on keyword, not your location radius.

 Searching for Twitter Users from Hootsuite

Hootsuite offers the option to search for Twitter users from the Hootsuite dashboard.

To search for a Twitter user from Hootsuite

  1. Click magnifying glass icon in upper-right corner of Hootsuite dashboard.

  2. Click Twitter icon, and then select Find Twitter Users.

  3. Type user's name or Twitter username, and then press ENTER.

Searching Facebook for trends or topics to monitor can be completed from the Hootsuite dashboard.

To search Facebook from Hootsuite

  1. Click magnifying glass icon in upper-right corner of Hootsuite dashboard.

  2. Click  Twitter icon, and then select Search Facebook.
