Quick Search Twitter or Facebook

Quick Search allows you to search Twitter or Facebook for content from the Hootsuite dashboard.

 Keyword Search or Geo-Search Twitter

Search keywords in Twitter from the Hootsuite dashboard. By also enabling geo-search, the search results can be filtered to within a 25 kilometer radius of your location.

To keyword search or geo-search Twitter

  1. Click Quick Search Quick_Search35x35.png in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Enter a keyword(s), and then press ENTER.
  3. Optional: click the target Geo-search_target30x30.png to display local results.
  4. Optional: Click Save as Stream in the bottom-right corner of the list to save the content as a new stream. This stream will display content based on keyword, not your location.

Note: Users may be prompted to adjust browser settings to enable location detection.

 Search Facebook

Search Facebook for trends or topics to monitor.

To search Facebook

  1. Click Quick Search Quick_Search35x35.png in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Click the Twitter icon Twitter_icon27x27.png, and then select Search Facebook.
  3. Enter a keyword, and then press ENTER.
  4. Optional: Click Save as Stream in the bottom-right corner of the list to save the content as a new stream.

 Search for Twitter Users

Hootsuite offers the option to search for Twitter users from the Hootsuite dashboard.

To search for a Twitter user

  1. Click Quick Search Quick_Search35x35.png in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Click the Twitter icon Twitter_icon27x27.png, and then select Find Twitter Users.
  3. Enter the user's name or Twitter username, and then press ENTER.

 View Trending Topics on Twitter

Twitter uses an algorithm to tailor the Trending on Twitter list. This determines popular topics based on a user's location and who they follow.

Trending on Twitter can be viewed and saved as a stream within the Hootsuite dashboard.

To view trending topics on Twitter

  1. Click Quick Search Quick_Search35x35.png in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  2. Select a trending topic from the list.
  3. Optional: Click Save as Stream in the bottom-right corner of the list to save the content as a new stream.
