Hootsuite uses Ow.ly to shrink links (URLs).
Shrinking a URL saves character space, and analytics can be generated based on clicks a URL receives.
Tip: URL Click Stats - Ow.ly is a free report template available in the Analytics section of the Hootsuite dashboard.
Facebook thumbnails are created when images are added to link (URL) posts. While some URLs provide a selection of alternate images, the option to not display an image is always available.
Choosing or disabling a Facebook thumbnail is done after shrinking the URL.
Click an arrowhead to choose the thumbnail.
Note: The number of available thumbnails is determined by the webpage developer.
Click No Thumbnail.
The Hootsuite dashboard offers four link (URL) shorteners:
While all of the URL shorteners can be used interchangeably to track click stats, ht.ly and htl.li are equipped with Hootsuite's Social Sharing Bar.
The Social Sharing Bar displays at the top of an image or webpage, and encourages users to rate and re-share content. Learn more
This setting will be saved after logging out of the Hootsuite dashboard.

Custom URL parameters are user-defined rules that determine how data is tracked. These are commonly used on blogs, websites and for marketing campaigns.
Tip: Add a URL with custom parameters to a blog or website. Next, analyze the data using URL Click Stats - Ow.ly, a free report template available in the Analytics section of the Hootsuite dashboard.
Custom URL parameters can be permanently deleted from the Hootsuite dashboard.
Alternatively, click Cancel to stop this process.
