As HootSuite continues to grow, we have discovered an enthusiastic community with lots of knowledge to share. With this in mind, we’ve created Community Support Forum as a means for enabling fellow HootSuite users to help each other out.

While consulting Help Desk’s How-tos and FAQs are the easiest way to get quick answers to your HootSuite questions, it is not an exhaustive compendium for every support possibility. And while our Support Staff attempt to answer all questions within a reasonable time frame, not all issues can be addressed immediately.

Community Support Forum exists so HootSuite users can help other HootSuite users. For official HootSuite answers to your problems, consult our Help Desk articles or create a help ticket. For feature requests and suggestions, please visit http://feedback.hootsuite.com

While Community Support Forum is a forum for HootSuite users by HootSuite users, HootSuite still reserves the right to moderate content deemed off-topic, offensive, or inappropriate.

If you're new to HootSuite, it can be a little daunting. This is why we've create a quick start guide so you can briskly understand the basics of HootSuite. For more help resources, check out the bottom of this article.

Here's how to quickly get started with HootSuite:

 

1. How to Sign Up for HootSuite

At the home page, click "Sign up now". Enter required information, then click "Create Account". HootSuite will send you a confirmation email with a confirmation link. For more information, see How to sign up for HootSuite.

 

2. How to Add a Social Media Profile

Click the Owl, go to Settings, select Social Networks, then click the button that says, "Add Social Network". For more information, see How to Add a Social Profile.

 

3. How to Compose a Message

Click inside the Compose field, type a message, select a social network, then click Send Now. For more information, see How to Compose a Status Update.

 

4. How to Add a Column or Stream

Click the "+ Add Streams" button to create a column for Home Feed, Mentions, Search, etc. For more information, see How to add a Column or Stream.

 

5. How to Access the HootSuite Launch Menu

To access the HootSuite Launch Menu, click the Owl on the upper right hand corner of you screen. For more information, see How to Access the HootSuite Launch Menu.

 

6. How to Reply, Retweet, Direct Message

Hover your mouse over a tweet, then click the appropriate buttons to reply, retweet, or direct message. For more information, see How to send a Reply, Retweet, or Direct Message.

 

7. How to Use Twitter Search with HootSuite

Enter a search term in the "Search Twitter..." field, then press "Enter". For more information, see How to Use Twitter Search with HootSuite.

 

8. How to Fit More Columns on a Screen

Chris Trottier May 19 HootSuite Service Updates / Known Issues & Bugs

If you're having problems specifically with the Facebook Connect dialogue box, this is not a specific HootSuite problem but an issue with getting Facebook's API to connect to HootSuite. Facebook itself is planning to simplify this dialogue box so we expect there to be improvements soon.

In the meantime, the best recourse for resolving this problem is by consulting Facebook Help Center: http://facebook.com/help

HootSuite Self-Help

Need help? Please check the Knowledge Base pages before submitting a request to see if we already know about it. We continuously update our Help Desk to track known issues.

We ask you to help yourself before submitting a ticket. While HootSuite is a free service, and we try to offer the best customer service possible, we provide the Knowledge Base because we cannot answer every email, nor do we offer phone support.

If it takes awhile to answer your questions, please be patient. We will respond as soon as we are able :)

 

Using the Knowledge Base

HootSuite's Knowledge Base is always accessible on the bottom of HootSuite.com or on the Settings screen on your HootSuite mobile app.

  • Getting Started. New to HootSuite? Getting Started articles will teach you the basics of HootSuite. If you can't find what you're looking for, try using the search box.
  • How-tos. Need some tips on how to use a HootSuite feature? Our How-tos are a handy guide on how to get the most out of HootSuite.
  • Support Updates. Sometimes problems just pop up. When this happens, HootSuite will post Support Updates to let you know what's going on.
  • FAQs. Some questions are asked so often we have dedicated pages for them. FAQs, or Frequently Asked Questions, is a great resource to peruse answers to typical HootSuite questions.
  • HootSuite for iPhone. Got some issues specific to the iPhone? HootSuite for iPhone is here to save the day.
  • HootSuite for Android. The newest member of our family. HootSuite for Android pages are for Android-related issues.
  • Known Issues & Bugs. We try to resolve all known issues with HootSuite, but for those unresolved problems, Known Issues & Bugs is here to let your know we're aware of them.
